Rick Steves

Rick Steves at Ehrenberg

2008 Rick Steves again spent some time in Reutte. Along with the Executive Director of the Burgenwelt Ehrenberg (“Fortress World Ehrenberg”), Armin Walch, he visited the Exhibition Construction Site atop the Fortress “Schlosskopf” which at this time still was under construction.

Afterwards, Steves was officially “knighted” in the Ehrenberg Cellar in the presence of the head of the Tourism Association of the Reutte Holiday Region. In honor and remembrance of this act Mr. Steves was presented with a sword. This sword is now displayed in the Foyer, and serves as a testimonial of this event.

Tourism Chairman Hermann Ruepp said smiling, “This knighting should forever remain in Mr. Steves’ memory, as Reutte should remain forever in his tour guides.”

Steves is planning a new Austria country guidebook in addition to the Germany guidebook for next year. “So much said, Reutte will be mentioned in both,” Steves admitted; much to the delight of the present hosts.
